About The Podcast

The podcast, Above All, There’s Hope, came about because I was unable to sleep due to side effects of my current medications. I was on the precipice of retiring from a 40-plus year career in the live production industry, and wondering what I was going to do next. Throughout my journey with prostate cancer (ten years to this point), I have 1) always worked to help raise awareness however I could, and 2) always remained hopeful regarding my own situation. I hope to reach more people to increase awareness, and support those in some way who are on their own journeys.

For me, it’s always been about hope. Even when I was diagnosed, even after robotic surgery, even during radiation, and even during the nine-year period where I watched my PSA slowly rise from “undetectable”, to detectable. And, even now, as I move into the next phase of treatment.

So here we are. Welcome to the website that supports our “Above All, There’s Hope” podcast. It is our hope that the podcast will help to increase awareness, provide support, and most of all, hope; for those on their own journey, be they someone living with prostate cancer, a spouse, partner, relative, or a friend of someone dealing with prostate cancer.

We believe this journey, as people living with prostate cancer, needs to be shared. Many times we don’t know what’s around the next curve. We will tell you what we didn’t know when we started, and what we do know now. We will support and pray for you on your journey. Our hope is that you enjoy the life you have and continue to live it to the fullest. As we have.

The Hosts

Meet Mark

Jill Ann Johnson and I married a dozen or so years ago. She was a small business owner who retired when we moved to Florida. She loves an adventure so the move was just that for her. Jill brings a yen for excitement and something new and different. She embraces change, she actually lives for it. Whether it’s changing her clothes, hair, the furniture, a new car, or moving, change is her passion.

Since the cancer diagnosis Jill has steadfastly remained by my side. She’s very committed to help and support me and this cause. Jill is especially serious on one hand and crazy funny on the other. She has a quick wit, a great sense of humor, and an infectious laugh, just one of the things I love about her.

Meet Jill

I’m Jill Johnson. I would like to introduce my husband Mark Johnson, the drive behind this podcast.

It’s always his goal to help people, he’s the man to call if you need a hand or someone to listen to for advice. Mark will always tell you what he would do.

He’s kind and gentle at the same time and really smart! He is also fun and funny, loves to laugh and have a good time. Everyone loves Mark. His vibe is laid back and welcoming. He’s my love! He’s one of – if not the best – men I know.

I thank God daily for him.
